[2017-2018 UW-Madison KSSA 학생회 선거 공지]
안녕하세요, UW-Madison 학우 여러분!
여러분께 한인학생회장으로서 첫 인사를 드린 것이 엊그제 같은데 벌써 마지막 인사를 드려야 할 때가 왔네요. 임기를 무사히 마칠 수 있도록 도와주신 감사한 분들이 참 많습니다. 우선 일년 동안 저희 KSSA 회장단을 격려해주신 여러분께 진심으로 감사드립니다. 또한 마음만 앞서고 덜렁거리는 회장을 도와 학생회를 이끌어준 우리 멋진 임원들 - 총무 백지현, 대외협력 진규형, 김선중, 기획 현정원, PR & IT 이준용에게도 정말 고마웠다고 말하고 싶습니다. 그리고 마지막으로 늘 학생회 일에 조언을 아끼지 않으신 방수혁 전 학생회장님께도 감사인사 전합니다.
2016년 이맘때쯤 임기를 시작하면서 작성했던 인사글에 KSSA가 개인과 개인, 개인과 공동체 간에 “연결고리” 역할을 하길 원한다는 말을 했던 기억이 납니다. 그러한 방향성을 가지고 크고 작은 일에서 여러분께 도움을 드리고자 노력했는데, 역시나 되돌아보니 아쉬움이 많이 남습니다. 혹여 학생회에 서운함을 느끼셨던 분이 계셨다면 모두 제 부족함 탓이니 너그러이 이해해주시길 바랍니다.
다음은 저희가 일년간 해온 일들을 간략히 정리한 것입니다.

- 심사를 통해 한인동아리에 금전적 지원
- 채용 정보 게시 및 배포, 채용 설명회 관련 행사장 세팅
- 홈페이지 (www.uwkssa.org) 보수 및 관리
이러한 기본적인 활동들 외에도 시카고 총영사관과 협력관계를 유지하고, 학생 여러분께 필요한 정보(위스콘신 운전면허 교환, 재외선거 등록 등)를 제공하는 일에도 힘썼습니다. 그리고 대한민국에 정의가 바로 세워지기를 바라는 여러 학생들의 뜻을 받들어 시국선언문을 작성했고, 적극적으로 서명 운동을 벌인 끝에 120명의 이름이 새겨진 시국선언문을 발표하기도 했습니다. 발표된 이후에도 많은 분들이 추가로 동참하셔서 200명 가까이 서명해주셨습니다!
일년간의 여정이 순탄치만은 않았지만 KSSA 회장으로 섬긴 기간은 제 기억 속에 매우 보람차고 유의미한 시간으로 남을 것입니다. 지난 일년간 저희가 기획한 여러 행사에 참여해주시고 호응해주신 여러분께 다시 한번 감사드립니다 <3
그러면 이제 설레는 마음으로 2017-2018 UW KSSA를 이끌어주실 분들을 모집하는 공지를 시작하겠습니다.
위스콘신 매디슨 대학에 재학중인 대학원생이라면 다음 학생회장을 비롯한 집행부에 지원하실 수 있습니다. 본인이 직접 입후보 하셔도 되며, 다른 사람의 추천을 받아서도 입후보 하실 수 있습니다. ’16-’17 집행부 직책으로는 회장 / 총무 / 대외협력 / PR 및 IT / 기획이 있었습니다만, 구체적인 직책을 염두에 두지 않으셔도 지원하실 수 있습니다. 한인학생 공동체를 위해 일하고자 하는 마음만 있다면 어떤 분이든 환영합니다. 타인을 추천하시거나 본인이 직접 지원하는 경우 모두, kssauw@rso.wisc.edu로 메일 보내주시면 되겠습니다. 궁금한 점이 있다면 페이스북 메시지나 이메일로 문의해주세요.
사실, 공부할 시간도 부족한데 내가 왠 봉사활동인가 하는 생각을 저도 했었습니다. 하지만 돌이켜보면 학생회 일이 있어서 오히려 더 신나게 공부할 수 있었던 것 같습니다. 학생회 행사참석이나 맥주 한 잔 곁들여 진행되는 집행부 미팅이 대학원생의 자칫 단조로운 일상에 활력소가 되었다고나 할까요. 혹 학업에 방해가 될까봐 망설이신다면 전혀 걱정하실 필요 없다고 말씀드리고 싶습니다. 우선순위는 개인의 학업이 되어야 하는 것이 당연하고 학생회는 그 누구에게도 학업을 담보로한 희생을 기대하지 않기 때문입니다.
