안녕하십니까. 2017-18년도 학생회장에 출마하게 된 김성훈이라고 합니다. 저에 대해 잘 모르시는분들이 대부분이실 것 같아서 간단히 자기 소개부터 올리도록 하겠습니다. 저는 작년 말 환경대학원 (Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies) 박사과정으로 입학하여 환경경영학이라는, 여러분들께는 다소 생소할 수도 있는 세부전공을 수학하고 있습니다. 이윤추구가 목적인 기업이 경제적 이윤을 추구함과 동시에 환경성과도 높일 수 있게끔 하는 동기부여나 근원들을 밝히는 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 예전부터 관심 있던 주제인데 제대로 한번 공부해보자는 마음에 호기롭게 박사과정에 도전하게 되어 현재 1년차 박사과정 트랙을 달리고 있습니다.
아직 알아야 할 것도 무수히 많고 적응하는 것도 여전히 녹록치 않은 신참내기 유학생이지만, 우연한 기회와 자발적인 의지 등이 합쳐져 이렇게 여러분께 한인학생회장 출마를 말씀드리게 되었습니다. 유학생 선배님들, 그리고 선생님들께 제대로 된 소통의 창구 역할을 제공할 수 있을지, 그리고 다양한 사안들에 노련한 방향으로 대처할 수 있을지 스스로의 확신에 찬 답변을 드리기는 어렵지만, 직책을 맡게 된다면, 한인 학생들의 이익을 대변하는 조직이라는 학생회의 존재 이유를 늘 생각하면서 최선을 다해 1년을 이끌어가 보도록 하겠습니다.
짧은 지난 한 학기 동안, 끝없이 밀려오는 일들, 힘겨운 의사소통, 그리고 일상에서 외국인으로서 느끼던 괜한 눈치들 속에 큰 위안이 되었던 것은, 첫째, 내 가족이 나를 응원해준다는 것, 둘째는 같은 것을 공감하는 한국인 친구들과 고민을 직접 이야기할 수 있었다는 것, 셋째는 내 이익을 대변해줄 수 있는 학생 조직이 언제든 내 뒤에 존재하고 있다는 무의식적인 의지감이었던 것 같습니다. 평학생으로서 지난 학생회 선배님들께 받았던 마음의 위안만큼, 한인 학생들이 은은하게 위안을 받고, 소속감을 느낄 수 있는 조직으로 다가갈 수 있게끔 노력해보겠습니다.
한없이 부족한 저이고 이뤄나가야 할 개인 학업 또한 산적해 있지만, 혹 학생회장으로 임명이 된다면, 제 나름의 가치관과 함께 기존 학생회 여러분들 그리고 여러 선배, 동기님들의 조언을 받들어 알차고 무탈한 한 해가 될 수 있도록 최선을 다해보겠습니다.
